2024 Federal Court Decisions Data
The final step in your disability journey is an appeal to the United States District Court in the district where you live. These “federal” courts are tasked with reviewing adverse agency decisions that are alleged to have not complied with statutory and regulatory legal requirements. Your case becomes a civil suit against the Social Security Administration in your US District Court. You are the “Plaintiff” in the suit.
The Social Security Administration has just released information on how disability claims were decided in 2024. The data representing the decisions of the federal courts:
- At the Federal Court level, district judges approved 1% of claims, dismissed 4%, remanded 63%, and denied 32%.
If we feel that there is a possibility of success in the US District Court, we will associate The Olinsky Law Group to file and argue the case. This New York firm is nationally recognized as a leader in representing claimants in federal courts throughout the country.
Attorney John Goss will appear in the case as your local counsel. If a favorable decision is rendered by the US District Court, the case comes back to us for further administrative work that generally includes a new hearing in your claim.
At this stage of your appeal, we generally advise that a new claim be filed as well so that, going forward, your claim is considered both as a review and as a new claim.
